These are both medicinal herbs, but they’re used for different purposes, and they are commonly smoked. But they do cause different experiences for different reasons,Marijuana is typically used for calming the body down, saliva is a bit more chaotic, and nonsensical with the highs that are there.
What Salvia Is
It reads like the word saliva at first glance, but it’s not. This is a medicinal herb that’s called the magic mint. It’s part of the mint family. It also may be called the safe of the seers. This is basically a plant that contains a hallucinogen that’s called salvinorin A. It's been used by indigenous people in Mexico for millennia. This is something that also is good for the spiritual advancement of many, and also is used as potent medicine.
However, recently, it’s been considered to be a psychedelic that's quite potent. This can be a bit too psychoactive, and people won’t use it more than twice.
Basically, the salvinorin A does bind to the opioid receptors, and it’s basically introduced through burning and inhalation of the smoke, and then, the hallucinogenic symptoms hit, and then, after 30 minutes it begins to diminish.
Some may use this as a tea too. It’s great for killing pain, is a natural antidepressant, and also prevents seizures. It also may be used to help with substance abuse. However, it’s not FDA approved, so the true potential is not known.
Some use this for a spiritual experience too, in order to better understand the world around them, offering new perspectives on the current situations, and also might solve some problems. Usually, the leaves get chewed, rather than smoking.
This is one that's definitely got a lot of benefits to solving problems, improving awareness, and can reduce anxiety and depression in people. In a way, it’s like DMT or magic mushrooms as it can be dissociative in its effects, and it doesn’t bind to the serotonin receptors within the brain.
It does cause people to sometimes feel like they’re going crazy, including causing fear and anxiety and nonsensical mental states. It can also influence the time perception, so it may start to feel like a bunch of hours have passed, when it’s only been a few minutes.
So Is It Like Weed?
Sometimes, it can be.
Both weed and salvia is something that’s definitely consumed in similar manners, smoking the plant material, alerting your ability to perceive reality.
Most of them can also cause benefits both medically and recreationally.
There are a few differences between this. Saliva doesn’t have a very pungent scent like how cannabis does. Saliva is usually from leaves that are dried and crushed, and they don’t contain the sticky resin that cannabis does.
Cannabis in contrast can look more like a bunch of plant tissue. Weed is from the buds that are tried within the cannabis plant. Cannabis buds are also a bit stickier to touch, and they have a smell that's distinct.
So the bottom line of this is that both of them are very different. The experience that you have with smoking weed is not the same as saliva, and it’s important to understand that the latter in this case can be very potent medicinally. Some people love it, others do not, and it’s vital to exercise caution when you’re looking to use this. Both of these don’t have the same proven health benefits of applications either. You can also use salvia legally, even though weed is not considered to be legal due to the way that it’s legalized in the united states at this time and the mindset surrounding it.
